Shop For Trailmaster Suspension 75480 Rear SSV Shock Absorber

Over All Rating Reviews :
I spent a week corresponding with the manufacturers tech support before putting in my order. The person assured me in three seperate emails that these shocks would fit my vehicle with a 3.5" lift. When I finally received it, they were a whole inch shorter than the stock shocks I had stored in my garage. I confirmed it was the correct shocks from the model number stamped on the tube, but this could not be right. So I contacted their tech support again. They assured me again that these shocks would work, when I replied asking why these are shorter than my old stock ones, they responded that I made a mistake and that they are only good for a 0-2" lift vehicle. I forwarded the previous emails to the them asking them to explain why they repeatedly stated it would work for up to a 4" lift. I never got a reply. So I returned them!

I do not recommend this product...PERIOD! If their so called tech support is any indication, what is the quality like? How do they handle warranty coverage? If you've got the money to spend, get some Bilstein's. If on a budget, a set of Monroe Reflex shocks work fine. Either of these companies offer better customer service than Trail Master/PAG.

Where To Buy AIR LIFT 59501 Ride Control Rear Air Spring Kit

Over All Rating Reviews :
The part arrived in under 48 hours. It says it takes a couple of hours to install. That seems about right. It does require drilling and an impact gun helps the process. The instructions were clear and all parts were included. They worked like a dream leveling out my Dodge Dakota. I load a full size motorcycle in the bed and then hook up a camper. My truck rode like it had no additinal weight on it. The price was right, delivery was quick and they worked as well as I could imagine.

Order AIR LIFT 59501 Ride Control Rear Air Spring Kit

Over All Rating Reviews :
This is my third truck I have installed Air Lift brand on. As in the past I like the end result but I am very unimpressed with the directions and quality of the kit. The directions bounce all over so plan on reading them several times. If you have a Silverado, plan on ignoring some of the specific instructions. They call for placing a thick spacer washer to level the upper bracket - well, after trying and uninstalling the bracket I called their technical folks they told me very casually to NOT install the washer - I must have a different truck.

The white nylon installation tool is handy - if they would only thread it properly. Instead of rolling the threads they should cut them properly so you could actually get the guide nuts on without wrenches. They do provide all the hardware and even a few extra's so when you loose parts inside the frame rail there are more to choose from. I had to cut off a few of the bolts as they were way too long.
Even though they don't call for any specialized tools, having a set of crows foot open end wrenches that can be calibrated to your torque wrench would be handy, or you need to be cleaver enough to find a way to torque the bottom bolt going into the plastic base of the bladder. I know about that because of truck number 1.
They don't provide enough wire tie wraps for the hoses so you'll need to get extras.

I must add that allowing four hours for install, calling tech help and fixing a few minor things is more appropriate than the 2 hours they suggest.

All that considered, the ride is great and they do exactly what they are supposed to do

Over All Rating Reviews :
It took cosiderably longer than the 2 hours that it sugested for the installation, so make sure you have a full day to do the instalation that you won't need the truck for. Otherwise the directions were well laid out and the product went in well. No drilling of the truck to install which was great. This is not the first truck that I have had one on or istalled one on. It works well and is a good alternative to installing overload leaf springs, especially when you don't carry the wieght all of the time. You can change the amount of help that you get from them by changing the amount of the air pressure.

Mountain Bike Frames - Choose Wisely to Suit Your Cycling Event

No matter what type of mountain bike you are searching for, there are several different frames available depending on the type of usage they will receive. Cross-country bikes have little front or rear suspension and are very light, as they use materials that are light in weight for the frame and also the various other Components. This makes them not as strong as their other mountain bike counterparts if they are used for something other than their intended purpose. Pneumatic shocks are usually the suspension of choice on these frames.

All terrain mountain bikes are a mix of freeride and cross-country bikes and usually weigh from 29 to 35 pounds. They have a better suspension travel, and usually brakes that can be adjusted. They are made to climb and descend steep hills.

Downhill bikes usually have 7 or more inches of suspension travel. These frames are light, yet strong, as they are made from expensive alloys. They are designed to be ridden down racecourses and downhill trails. They feature the greatest sag so they can get good traction over trails that are bumpy. Since downhill riding involves high rates of speed, most of these bikes have one front chain ring, large bash guard, as well as a chain guard, but now many riders are forgoing the bash guards to lighten the weight of the frames.

Freeride mountain bike frames are made from materials that are more durable and heavier than cross-country bikes. They are much like downhill bikes, but they are more about strength and less about weight. Their frame angles are usually steeper than those seen on downhill bikes.

Dirt jumping mountain bikes are in between a freeride bike and a BMX bike, and are usually made of extremely strong materials. They have fast rolling tires, which are either slick or mostly slick. Dirt jumpers usually feature oversized handlebars and low seat posts. They usually have extended rear brake cables and no front brake, allowing the rider to spin handle bars without getting the brake cables tangled.

Single speed mountain bikes have only one set gear ratio. The ratio is chosen depending on where the bike is being ridden, the skill and strength of the bike rider, and the bike size. These types of frames are fully rigid, and made from steel. They are usually ridden by people who are very fit on milder or moderate cross-country terrain.

Dual slalom is much like mountain cross, but there are only two competitors. There are generally lanes for each rider, although some have a single lane throughout much of the course. They have technical courses and have smaller jumps than mountain cross courses have. The bikes used for mountain cross are also used in dual slalom.

Whatever type of bike you are looking for, knowing where you will be riding ahead of time can save you a great amount of money and frustration. When you can choose the best mountain bike frames for your purpose, you will get the most use out of them, as well as the most fun.

"Air suspension systems can provide you with a smooth ride as long as they are functioning properly. However, it can be a very expensive chore to repair a broken down air suspension system. All of the parts in a factory air suspension system are interconnected. Damage to one part of the system will often cause damage to other parts. It is a domino effect that results in the failure of multiple components in your air suspension system. After about 3-7 years the air springs/air bags, air lines and air shocks begin to develop cracks and leaks due to age, weather and use. These small leaks are often not noticeable because the air suspension compressor compensates for the loss of air by running more often. The air suspension compressor is not designed to run continuously, so it quickly burns out. As the cracks in the air springs get worse they often allow moisture into the air system. The air suspension dryer is designed to remove moisture from the air system. It is filled with tiny silicon pellets that are super absorbent. Over time the dryer becomes saturated with moisture and can no longer prevent it from reaching the compressor. This can easily cause the compressor to burn out. In addition to this, the moisture can weaken the rubber used in the air springs and air shocks. When this happens you will most likely find yourself having to replace not only the air springs but also your air suspension compressor and dryer. For some vehicles it can cost more than ,000 to ,000 to repair the air suspension system. And even then it is not guaranteed to fix the problem permanently. Strutmasters has developed a solution to this expensive problem. Strutmasters air to non-air suspension conversion kits will replace your air suspension system with passive coil springs, coil-over-struts, and shock absorbers. The Strutmasters conversion kits will eliminate your air suspension problems forever. Strutmasters provides a Lifetime Warranty for all of its air to non-air suspe

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Express SYE Slip Yoke Eliminator Installation

It's now common knowledge that Wrangler owners like to have fun and what's more fun than a bigger Jeep? Not much!

The problem Wrangler owners face when lifting their Jeep is that short rear driveline. Any type of suspension lift that exceeds 3.5" is likely to cause driveline vibrations. Aside from lowering the transfer case (which also lowers ground clearance), the easiest way to eliminate driveline vibrations is to get rid of the short, slip-yoke type driveline and replace it with a longer, CV type. The only way to do that is to replace or modify your existing transfer case.

Replacing the transfer case can cost upwards of a couple thousand dollars. Unfortunately, most of you (like me) probably don't have that kind of money available to spend on a transfer case swap. That leaves us the option of modifying the existing transfer case by removing the tailcone output section and shortening it by about 3". Doing this will allow you to install a driveshaft that is about 3" longer which, in itself, will alleviate driveline angles, but better yet, it will allow you to switch to a CV type drivehsaft which better at handling sharp angles than its slip-yoke counterpart.

Installing a Rubicon Express slip yoke eliminator takes about two hours and requires the following tools.

Basic mechanics wrenches/sockets
Circular saw/grinder with a metal cutting blade (a Sawzall will not work)
Center punch
Hammer
Electric drill
Tap handle - for the 3/8" tap.
Do not use a wrench to turn the tap.
A wrench does not allow you to put equal force on both sides of the tap like a handle does and therefore you can easily break it off inside the shaft.
1/8" and 5/16" drill bit
3/8" and 5/16" Allen wrenches
Cutting oil
RTV silicone sealer
Loctite

The advantages of using this particular kit are simple: it's cheap ($199 USD), easy to install (done while the transfer case is in the vehicle), improves your lifted vehicle's rear driveline angle, and allows a lowered transfer case to be put back into its stock location.

Remove the rear driveshaft from the vehicle.
On the rear axle, this is done by removing four 1/4" bolts and two steel retaining straps from the differential output yoke. At the transfer case, simply pull the driveshaft out of the slip yoke. Some oil may spill from the transfer case when the shaft is removed but not a lot.

Remove the tailcone section from the transfer case.
The tailcone is held to the transfer case by three bolts. Remove them and tailcone should pop/slide off the case/shaft. If not, lightly tap it on the sides with a hammer to nudge it free from the case. The only thing holding it in place at this time is silicone sealant.

Seal the output shaft bearing surface to avoid contact with debris.
Rubicon Express suggested the use of duct tape, however other items such as Reynold's saran wrap will work. Be sure to use a liberal amount so no debris can get into the output bearing when you cut the shaft off.

Measure and mark the shaft so that 1" of splined shaft will remain.
Remember the rule, "Measure twice. Cut once." It may be wise to mark a little more than 1" of shaft because too long is better than too short. If you cut the shaft too long, it can be shortened. If you cut the shaft too short, you'll need a new one. You will need a circular saw with a metal cutting/carbide blade. A sawzall will NOT work. A 4.5" hand grinder is ideal for this because it's small enough to fit in the confined area you'll be working in. When using a grinder, make sure you cut slowly and no more than 30-60 seconds at a time. This will prevent the shaft from getting overheated and warping. After you've cut through the shaft, if it isn't square at the end, grind it down to make it square.

Center punch the end of the shaft.
This will ensure the drill bit starts in the center of the shaft when drilling the pilot hole. To make finding the center of the shaft easier, place the CV Output Flange over the cut-off shaft. This reduces the visible surface area from about 1.25" diameter to 0.5" diameter allowing you to find the center of the shaft easier. Be sure to hit the centerpunch hard enough to put a dent in the end of the shaft deep enough for a 1/8" drill bit to sit in.

Drill the pilot hole in the end of the shaft.
This is done with a 1/8" drill bit. This step is easiest done with the vehicle raised 6" on jack stands and the transfer case lowered 2". With the vehicle being as high as possible, you'll be able to sit under it and gauge the direction of the drill. The pilot hole needs to be drilled into the shaft as straight as possible so take your time. The pilot hole needs to be 1"-1.25" deep. After that is done, you need to bore out the 1/8" pilot hole with a 5/16" drill bit. To be on the safe side, you may want to use a 3/16" bit before going to the 5/16" bit. This makes it a little easier to drill a straight hole. Make sure the final depth of the pilot hole is 1.25".

Use a 3/8" -24 tap to cut threads into the 5/16" pilot hole.
Use cutting oil (or WD40) and keep the tap threads clean. CAUTION: If you have never used a tap before, then tapping the pilot hole is not the time to learn! For best results you should read up on how to correctly do this and then practice on another piece of steel. The proper way to tap a hole is one full turn forward (clockwise) and one-half turn back (counter-clockwise), but since the shaft is made of hardened steel, tap it in one-half turn forward increments. Better safe than sorry at this point.

Install the Oil seal in the Bearing/Seal Flange.
You will need a press, vice, or similar tool to do this. The oil seal needs to be pressed straight in or damage will occur. Afters the Oil Seal is pressed into the Bearing/Seal Flange, turn it over and run a bead of RTV Silicone along a circumference just inside the three bolt holes. The bead should be about 3/16". Allow about 10-20 minutes for the silicone to "skin" over before installing it. Take this time to lube up the rubber part of the seal where it will make contact with the CV Output Flange. Wiping transfer case oil on it with your finger will be adequate. Make sure to put oil all around the black rubber part of the seal. This is to reduce friction otherwise the seal will melt and tear within the first mile of driving.

Install the Bearing/Seal Flange.
Remove the duct tape, saran wrap, or whatever you used to protect the transfer case output bearing (in step 3) from the transfer case output shaft. Clean the surface near the bearing making sure there is no leftover residue from when the tailcone was removed. Use three grade 8 M10 x 25mm bolts to install the Bearing/Seal Flange onto the transfer case. Apply Loctite to the bolts before inserting them. Now would be a good time to apply RTV silicone to the remaining splines of the output shaft. This is to prevent oil from leaking through the CV Output Flange once it's installed.

Install the CV Output Flange.
Slide the CV Output Flange over the output shaft splines and through the oil seal. Take care not to damage the seal. You may need to use a hammer to lightly tap the CV Output Flange down the shaft. Use a 3/8" bolt and washer to bolt the CV Output Flange to the output shaft. Use loctite to hold the bolt in place.

Congratulations! You no longer need to worry about your Jeep vibrating due to your 3"+ suspension lift.

Mountain Bike Review

This article will present the Mountain bike review; one of the most well-known type of bicycle we know today. Unlike road bikes, mountain bikes are specifically designed for rough terrains. Almost all mountain bikes have common characteristics that offer great performance on rough terrains. They are quite heavier as compared to the road bicycle which gives them more durability. Mountain biking is roughly broken down into four categories: cross country, downhill, free ride, and trials/street riding. Each has differing levels of safety-consciousness with different types of mountain bikes and riding gear.

For the purpose of shock absorption and additional traction, all mountain bikes uses wide and knobby tires. In the past few years, full front and real suspension is gradually becoming a common feature of all mountain bikes. As you can see in the picture below that the handlebars has got bar ends. But today, lower handlebars or risen handlebars ( as in case of road bicycles) is becoming more popular in comparison with straight handlebars.

Mountain bike Design

Mountain bikes are available in different designs but it can be classified into various categories like

Hard Tail: with this design, the bike has no rear suspension. It only has front suspension.

Soft Tail: Unlike hard tail, it has some rear suspension and uses flex of the frame rather than pivots.

Fully Rigid: this type of mountain bike has got no suspension. It is fully rigid and has a fixed gear.

Full Suspension: This type of mountain bike has got both rear and front suspension and it also has got rear shock and linkage to move the rear wheel on pivots.

Tire design

Most of the mountain bikes uses 559 mm wheels, although the measurements are not necessarily accurate. In some countries, mountain bikes have got 28 inch wheels like in Europe. For dirt jumping, 24 inch wheels are generally used. Sometimes both wheels of the bikes have got varying sizes to offer more variety and design.

Most of the mountain bikes have a 24 inch wheel for the purpose of dirt jumping. 24 inch wheels are also used for freeride bikes as well. But in these free rides, a 24 inch wheel is used as a rear wheel which makes the bicycle more maneuverable. Once, 29 inch wheels were used for Cross Country. However, these 29 inch tires are now becoming more common.
